Come and Sew Ministries International
Come and Sew Ministries International at a Glance
A Bit of Background
Come and Sew Ministries International (often referred to as CASMI) disciples women while they are enrolled in a sewing class. We partner with local churches and ministries to train when needed, equip them to serve, praying always as we bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to them in a practical setting.
Jesus is our mission, and sewing is the method of our outreach.
Where God is at Work
James 1:27
Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.
Albania
CASMI was invited to Albania in 2012. God used meeting the first young Albanian widow and hearing her story to open the door to the work God would do in this country. We hope the stories of the many lives that have been impacted by the sewing classes will touch your heart as well. Read more about what God is doing.
Africa
In 2004, we were invited to go to Africa to encourage some existing sewing projects and see how we could help. It was an inspiring trip, and we fell in love with Kenya and the people. In 2018, one of the orphans we met on that trip re-connected with us and shared the ministry he was doing back in the slums, where this photo was taken. What a joy it has been to reach so many with skills and the gospel of Jesus. God's ways are amazing.
Russia
Russia is where it all began in 2001. Kathie Arnold (one of the ministry founders) was running a sewing school in her home teaching women and children to sew. She was asked if she and her husband Steve would go investigate how sewing could open a new door of discipleship in Russian-run orphanages. CASMI's training and equipping of the Russian believers brought much fruit in the first 10 years of the work. Learn more about how these first seeds of faithfulness are still growing.
Ukraine
The first official visit CASMI made to Kiev, Ukraine, was in 1990, during the Soviet Union times. On that trip, Kathie Arnold delivered the vision and ministry of Moms in Prayer. There were no plans to ever return--but to pray for this country--until 2017, when CASMI was asked to consider a sewing project with a Ukrainian Orthodox church near Kiev. In 2018, a new chapter for this country began when the first sewing class was established.
Keep us in your prayers as we go where God leads!
Matthew 28:19
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
