We share our life story to encourage you to look and listen to how God may want to use you and the life skills you have gained to share God's love with those in need.

We believe our story to serve as missionaries actually began in the early 1970's when we met as college students at the University of South Dakota. As newlyweds we attended a Campus Crusade for Christ Christmas Conference where Josh McDowell with Campus Crusade for Christ was the speaker. It was at this conference that the seed for fulltime missions began. It was our dream to go abroad into full time mission work as a young couple. The mission we pursued asked that you not plan to bring small children or start a family for the first two years. We were not aware that Kathie was already expecting our first child when we applied for this assignment. So instead of an overseas mission field, I began a career in health care administration and Kathie (with degrees in special education and speech pathology) enjoyed being a mom to Stephanie, Seth, Sarah, and LeAnn.

In 1991 our oldest daughter Stephanie was seventeen, (the baby that kept us home in the 70's) and had a desire to go on a mission trip to Russia — the former Soviet Union at that time in history. Stephanie and Kathie went with the first mission the Josh McDowell ministry hosted. During this mission, Kathie was asked to introduce the ministry of Moms in Touch International (now Moms in Prayer) to local churches they visited in Russia. This is an intercessory prayer ministry for moms Kathie was involved with. She had no idea that God would use the seed of prayer from this trip to lay the foundation of our current work and others women's ministries in Russia. God's ways are certainly higher than our ways and we are so thankful.

Kathie volunteers her time to the growth and continued development of CASMI, and I changed from full-time work to a health care consultant for 9 years so that I would have time to assist with the founding development of CASMI. It was necessary for me to go back into full time Health care and I am now the Regional director over Cardiology for HCA in Dallas. I look forward to time when I can again travel with Kathie.

As of 2012 we celebrate 40 years of marriage and the kids are all married, doing well and we have 13 wonderful grandkids.
